A guide to the 7 plus teas of the day

Cuppa / Tassie – A cup of tea at any time of the day. Apparently in Scotland it’s a Tassie, although I think that word must be dyeing out?

Elevenses – 11am cup of tea with a tiffin. Perhaps of English roots rather than Scottish, Orkney butter biscuits were a favourite of mine growing up in Scotland

Growing a variety of plants to encourage flora and fauna

Tea cultivation is still in its early stages in Scotland. In the first few years, when the gardens are still young, only small amounts of tea leaves are harvested.

In the beginning, a handful of tea gardens were scattered across Scotland. The owners dreamed of growing teas with Scottish roots, high-quality leaf and grown in Scottish soil.

For tea to be of the highest standard, it must be picked fresh, and the 'tea-making' process must commence within the shortest time possible, ideally within 12 hours.
